Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery in Scottsdale was founded in 1884 as a small cemetery to inter the victims of the smallpox pandemic that claimed the lives of 50 residents. The Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery gradually grew as the population increased, prompting the purchase of more land in 1924 north of the brown road.
