Evergreen Mortuary & Cemetery in Tucson was founded in 1900 as a small cemetery to inter the victims of the smallpox pandemic that claimed the lives of 41 residents. The Evergreen Mortuary & Cemetery gradually grew as the population increased, prompting the purchase of more land in 1900 north of the brown road.
