Pima County County provides affordable housing for low-income Pima County County residents, the elderly, or the disabled. The Pima County Housing Board of Directors is in charge of the Tucson Housing Authority. The main Tucson Housing Authority website office is at 1713 South 3rd Avenue, Tucson, Arizona, 85713.

The Purpose of Public Tucson Housing Authority

  1. To provide affordable housing to low-income Pima County County residents.
  2. To encourage and enable Pima County County people to save. If the individual can save some of the money they earn, it will eventually help them improve their lives and that of their family.
  3. To encourage Pima County County children to get an education. Pima County County parents and guardians that earn little money may not have enough for education. However, with affordable housing from the Tucson Housing Authority, they will be able to put aside money for their children’s education.

Tucson Housing Authority Programs

Tucson Housing Authority has three programs available for Pima County County residents. They include:

1. Public Housing

In this program, the Tucson Housing Authority owns and manages the houses, ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms. They are located in Pima County, Arizona.

2. Section 8

In the Section 8 program, the individual will look for a house eligible for the initiative. The Tucson Housing Authority will then approve and enter into a Housing Assistance Payment contract with the property owner. The Pima County County resident will have a lease agreement with the owner.

3. Family self-sufficient Program

Through the FSS Program, the Pima County County Government seeks to encourage low-income Pima County County residents to work towards financial independence. Pima County County Government provide resources such as training, jobs, and childcare facilities to help them earn more and be self-sufficient.

To get into this program available at Tucson Housing Authority, you have to be:

  • A low-income Pima County County Government resident who wants to be independent, and
  • Qualified for Public Housing and Section 8
