Humboldt Cemetery in Dewey-Humboldt was founded in 1885 as a small cemetery to inter the victims of the smallpox pandemic that claimed the lives of 49 residents. The Humboldt Cemetery gradually grew as the population increased, prompting the purchase of more land in 1910 north of the brown road.
